Breathless Reads mega-giveaway!

From Beth Revis’ blog…

“As you know, I’m a fan of all these books. But here’s my super-short reasoning for why you want each one:

* THE ETERNAL ONES by Kiersten Miller is a fast-paced, adventurous love story that involves reincarnation, secret societies, and fire.
* THE REPLACEMENT by Brenna Yovanoff is a hauntingly beautiful book that scares the pants off me.
* NIGHTSHADE by Andrea Cremer is not about werewolves–it’s about true wolves that can shapeshift into people written by a brilliant scholar who incorporate history into the tale.
* MATCHED by Allie Condie shows us that love can break through any barrier, and the most important thing is to not go gently…
* ACROSS THE UNIVERSE is the book that I wrote and I would really like it if you liked it. Also I think you’re pretty and want to be friends with you.”

I don’t know about you, but I am seriously pining after all of these books!

Book Blogger Hop & Follow Friday!

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkie's View. It's an awesome way to meet new bloggers and friends!

This week's question: Who are You the Boy/Girl, instead of You the Blogger?

Booking Through Thursday

Booking through Thursday is a weekly meme that asks a book/reading related question which you have to answer.
Do you multi-task when you read? Do other things like stirring things on the stove, brushing your teeth, watching television, knitting, walking, et cetera?
Or is it just me, and you sit and do nothing but focus on what you’re reading?
(Or, if you do both, why, when, and which do you prefer?)

Pulse – Book Review

So I’ve completely SLACKED in the review department. Life happens, ya know? So I’m going to attempt to review the last couple books I’ve read, in no particular order. The important thing is that I do it, right? Right!

First up is the Pulse series by Kailin Gow.

March 7, 2011

**There might be spoilers…**

I read these consecutively, as I usually do with a series, so I’ll do one review because my brain can’t compartmentalize what happened in which book lol
GoodReads description from the 1st book:

“17 year-old Kalina didn’t know her boyfriend was a vampire until the night he died of a freak accident. She didn t know he came from a long line of vampires until the night she was visited by his half-brothers Jaegar and Stuart Greystone. There were a lot of secrets her boyfriend didn’t tell her. Now she must discover them in order to keep alive. But having two half-brothers vampires around had just gotten interesting.”

After her boyfriend, Aaron, dies, Kalina’s world is turned upside down. Certain things she thought she knew about him, like his humanity, turn out to be something out of this world. There’s also something different about Kalina…something very ‘attractive’ to certain people. She just doesn’t know it yet.

Kalina meets Jaegar first, although she’s supposed to forget it. He tries to schmooze her like he does every other attractive human female. But when he gets close, he realizes that she’s different. Something sets her apart. Kalina meets Stuart when she begins searching for the truth about Aaron. He’s polite, sweet and very charming. Like Kalina, Stuart is different, though for a very different reason. He doesn’t drink the blood of humans. Stuart longs to be human again, and has pledged to drink only a manufactured “blood”, called Vampire Wine.

As the series continues, Kalina learns that her blood, to vampires, is known as Life’s Blood, and it has the capability to turn them back into a human. Just a few ‘small’ catches…she has to love that vampire, or risk killing them. She also has to be..dun dun DUN!..A VIRGIN. (I like that part ;)) Once ‘the deed’ happens, she loses the ability to turn vamps.

Lots of twists and cliffhangers to keep readers wanting more, and I will mention a very interesting love triangle..or would that be square? You’ll get it once you start reading.

These books tell a great story of people from different walks of “life” struggling to figure out what most of us are: love, identity, morality, and humanity.

I gave them a 3 out of 5 star rating on GR.
